It's sometimes hard to believe the places I get to work, and this wedding was one of the most extravagant ones I’ve had the pleasure of painting.
The wedding was taking place on the iconic SeaFair yacht in Miami Bay. It was a stunning sight, and yet there were some unique challenges to painting on this mega yacht.
In general, when I am picking out an outfit for a wedding, I plan to wear something elegant. But, as a vendor, I also try to blend into the background and not be too obvious with my outfit.
But this particular bride had other plans in mind, including a red-carpet dress code for all guests as well as vendors. Which meant that I had the opportunity to put on something glamorous!

The evening was beautiful as the sun was setting over the Miami skyline. As the evening grew darker, I was grateful to have reference photos for painting since there wasn't enough light to see the skyline on the water after sunset.

At some point during the evening, as I sat at my easel, someone came to let me know that there was a storm moving in, and I only had about seven minutes to move all of my equipment under cover.
This was a problem. It usually takes me about 45 minutes to teardown or set up my equipment. I started rushing around in desperate hope to get everything moved before the rain started.
Luckily some other people came to my rescue and started helping me move everything into the lower level of the boat where I could finish painting as the party continued.
As this painting started coming together there were some very unique details that I was able to bring out. This bride's dress was one of a kind with the skirt covered in beautiful white feathers. I knew I wanted this detail to come through in their painting, so I brought some ostrich feathers with me and incorporated real feathers into the painting.
In the reference photo, the groom's golden watch was prominently visible. So, in the final painting, I made sure to show the watch face indicating the exact time the couple said I do - 6:55. This was a very special detail that I wanted to capture in the painting.
